Start making the 4th of July dessert by combining all the dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl.
Whisk them together until thoroughly combined
Then add the softened butter, eggs, and vanilla extract and beat on low to medium until thoroughly combined
Next add the milk to the Red white and blue cake batter and beat again until thoroughly combined
Grab a second large mixing bowl and pour half the batter into the second bowl. Create two equal portions of cake batter as best you can
At this point, preheat the oven to 350 degrees
Grease two round cake pans (8 x 1 1/2 inches)
Add 3 big drops of red food coloring to one mixing bow cake batter and 3 big drops blue food coloring to the other
Whisk the food coloring into each batter until thoroughly combined.
You can add more color if it’s not as bright red or blue as you want
Pour each colored batter into each greased pan
Bake Red white and blue cake 20 minutes
