Red White And Blue Cake
This Red White and Blue 4th Of July Cake Recipe turned out really delicious. It’s a really fun 4th of July dessert. The blue and red cake layers really pop with the white frosting in the middle. Additionally I like to add some blue sprinkles on top.
I actually made this 4th of July dessert in April because I wanted to get the recipe post ready in plenty of time for the actual holiday. My husband, two kids, and myself ate it all within a few day! The best thing in the world is eating cold cake right out of the refrigerator at 2:00am.
Everyone else is asleep so no one can bother you! It’s nice and dark and you’re half asleep so there’s not a care in the world! That’s my favorite time to grab a fork, open the cold fridge, and eat red white and blue cake while sitting on the kitchen floor!
You only need some simple ingredients to make this dessert for the 4th of july. All you need is 1/2 cup butter softened (1 stick), 1 1/3 cups sugar, and 2 eggs. Also 2 cups all-purpose flour, 1 tbsp baking powder, and. 1/2 tsp salt.
Lastly you also need 1 cup milk, 1 tbsp vanilla extract, 3 drops red food color, and 3 drops blue food color for this Red white and blue cake. The white frosting is crazy easy. All I did to make it was combine a 16 oz container of preface vanilla frosting and 1/2 cup cream cheese.
You can find a fancy homemade cream cheese frosting if you’d like, those are super delicious. But if you love a good recipe hack, trust me on this one! It tastes amazing everyone will ask you for the recipe!
Start making the 4th of July dessert by combining all the dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl. Whisk them together until thoroughly combined. Then add the softened butter, eggs, and vanilla extract and beat on low to medium until thoroughly combined.
Next add the milk to the Red white and blue cake batter and beat again until thoroughly combined. Grab a second large mixing bowl and pour half the batter into the second bowl. Create two equal portions of cake batter as best you can.
At this point, preheat the oven to 350 degrees for baking the dessert for the 4th of july. Grease two round cake pans (8 x 1 1/2 inches). Add 3 big drops of red food coloring to one mixing bowl cake batter and 3 big drops blue food coloring to the other.
Whisk the food coloring into each batter until thoroughly combined. You can add more color if it’s not as bright red or blue as you want. Pour each colored batter into each greased pan. Bake the Red white and blue cake 20 minutes
To make the cream cheese frosting for the 4th of July dessert, simply combine a 16 oz vanilla frosting container with 1/2 cup cream cheese and beat with electric mixer until thoroughly combined
It’s easiest to frost this Red white and blue cake when the frosting is room temperature and the cake is cold from being chilled in the refrigerator for a few hours. Put the blue layer on the bottom, a thick layer of white frosting in the center, and the red cake layer on the top.
