Macaroni Casserole With Ground Beef

This recipe for hamburger casserole with noodles is easy delicious and perfect for family dinner. I love any cheesy casserole with ground beef. The flavor combinations are spectacular cozy and comforting. My husband and kids love when I make this simple oven baked pasta dish and we can eat it for leftovers or to go lunch as well! 

My favorite type of noodles to use in this recipe for hamburger casserole are macaroni noodles. However you can use and noodle you like, for example: manicotti, penne, fettuccine, spaghetti, Fagioli, etc.. my favorite brand of elbow macaroni noodles include: Barilla Elbows – 2 lbs, Anthonys Elbow Macaroni, Large – 32 oz, Great Value enriched macaroni Product, Elbows, and La Moderna Pasta 7 oz Large Elbow, Wholesale, Bulk.

What ingredients do you need to make this casserole with ground beef? 

  • 1 pound uncooked macaroni noodles
  • 1/2 cup onion chopped
  • 1 pound extra lean ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 tbsp garlic, minced
  • 1  cup spaghetti sauce
  • 1/4 cup tomatoes, diced
  • 2 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese

How do you make this recipe with hamburger meat and noodles?

  • Start making this casserole with ground beef by preheating your oven to 400°F.
  • Lightly grease a standard 9 x 13 casserole dish.
  • Bring a large pot of water to a boil with a pinch of salt and a dash of oil.
  • Cook the macaroni noodle in the water for 6 to 8 minutes do you want it to be al dente.
  • In the meantime he a dash of oil in a large skillet on medium high heat and then sauté the onions and garlic for a few minutes before adding the beef and Salt and pepper.
  • Sauté the beef for about 10 minutes while stirring then drain the excess oil and fat
  • Then stir the diced tomatoes, spaghetti sauce, and cheddar cheese into the meat mixture and set aside.
  • Pour the cooked noodles into the casserole dish followed by the ground beef mixture.
  • Make a layer of mozzarella cheese on top of the ground beef followed by the Parmesan cheese.
  • Bake for 10 minutes, uncovered, until the cheese is nicely melted.
  • Broil it for a few minutes to brown the cheese into a crust.
  • Rest the casserole with ground beef for 10 minutes then serve.
