The crispy coating is drenched in orange chicken sauce made from scratch. Your whole family will be amazed with how flavorful this orange chicken recipe is. They won’t wanna eat it for dinner every week. 

When I first looked into making a copy cat panda express orange chicken recipe I wasn’t sure if it was going to be as good as the real thing. And to my surprise it turned out even better. That’s because it’s homemade from scratch I am made with love. The breading is so crispy and crunchy yet light. Copycat Panda Express Orange Chicken Recipe

For The Chicken:

  • 2 pounds chicken tenderloin skinless boneless
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup cornstarch
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 4 cup oil for cooking

For The Sauce:

  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 1/2 tbsp orange zest
  • 1 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch

How do you make this panda express copycat orange chicken recipe?

  • Slice the chicken into 1 inch thick strips.
  • Combine the flour and cornstarch and 1 teaspoon salt in a mixing bowl and whisk.
  • Whisk the four eggs in a separate mixing bowl.
  • Thoroughly coat the chicken strips and eggs and then the flour mixture and set aside.
  • Repeat the steps until all your chicken slices are thoroughly coded in the batter.
  • Use a large cooking skillet to heat the cooking oil on medium high heat.
  • Carefully drop the chicken pieces into the hot oil and cook for five minutes then turn them over and cook for another five minutes.
  • When each chicken pieces is done cooking move it over to a large clean mixing bowl.
  • Melt the butter in a sauce pan before whisking in the remaining sauce ingredients.
  • Show me simmer on medium low heat while working for five minutes.
  • Remove the sauce from the heat and then pour it on top of the cooked chicken pieces in the mixing bowl and tossed with a spoon until all the chicken pieces are coated in the sauce.
  • Allow it to rest for five minutes then serve.
  • Sprinkle with some sesame seeds for garnish.
