At the time I’m writing this we are all stuck at home. Which means parents are looking for fun and easy activities and other things to keep kids occupied at home! Corn starch crafts are great because it’s affordable and non toxic. This recipe for playdough (easy) is a little messy, but containable!

I went ahead and made this recipe for Playdough (no cook) outside on a patio table, covered with a cheap plastic table cloth. If you are going to make it inside, you can get cheap table clothes at the dollar store, or use old towels or sheets.

As good as our kids are it’s probably going to impossible for them to add the color to the homemade playdough recipe without making a mess. Thankfully my 2 year old wasn’t too interested in mixing the color, she was having too much fun playing in the dirt!

Corn starch crafts are my favorite DIY activity

However my 8 year old son did a great job containing the food coloring mess while helping me make corn starch crafts! We had a little too much fun splattering each other with blue and green! Everyone needed bathes afterwards!

You only need 2 ingredients to make playdough. 3 ingredients if you use the food coloring. All you need is 2 cups cornstarch, about 1 cup inexpensive hair conditioner, and food coloring (optional).

The instructions for recipe for playdough (easy) is so simple. In a large mixing bowl combine 2 cups corn starch and 1 cup cheap hair conditioner. Mix with a large spoon until it starts to combine. Then use your hands to mix and mold like cookie dough.

Add your favorite food coloring and mix and mold and mash until it’s thoroughly combined. Store in a plastic bag or Tupperware container. I’m not really sure how long it stays good, I’ve always thrown it away after a week of making a mess in the house ha ha.
